About Us
Who We Are
Ethics of Caring® is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing ethics education and dialogue among nurses and healthcare professionals. Founded in 1993 by a network of nursing leaders, we have built a tradition of convening an annual conference since 1994 which grew into the National Nursing Ethics Conference (NNEC) in 2011.
Grounded in an ethic of care, we focus on mentorship, education, and accessibility, offering scholarships, recognizing excellence through awards, and creating opportunities for nurses to connect and grow as ethics leaders. We remain dedicated to keeping education affordable and accessible, sustained by partnerships with healthcare institutions, professional organizations, and the passionate volunteer work of our planning committee.

Our Mission
The mission of Ethics of Caring® is the promotion of ethical dialogue and ethics education for nurses and others in health care. To create a reflective, supportive space where nurses can confront and discuss the complex ethical challenges they face in practice. By bringing together clinicians, educators, researchers, and students from diverse institutions, we encourage the cross-pollination of ideas and build ethical agency and leadership.
Our Vision
To foster a nursing profession where every nurse is equipped, empowered, and inspired to lead with ethical clarity and compassionate care. Through education, dialogue, mentorship, and recognition, we aim to build an inclusive community that champions ethical practice, supports reflective growth, and sustains a culture of caring across all of healthcare.
